Noah Kahan addressed his disappointed fans with a sincere apology during his concert on Sunday (July 19), following the abrupt cancellation of his Saturday night performance in New York City due to severe weather.

“I wanted to personally reach out and apologize for having to call off our show last night,” Kahan shared from the stage, a moment captured by Billboard. “I know you were all there, and I don’t expect any sympathy. I am truly gutted for those of you who traveled and braved the rain all day. You’ve been on my mind ever since.”

Kahan was slated for two consecutive nights at Citi Field in Queens, but a dangerous storm forced organizers to scrap the first show for safety reasons. While the Sunday performance proceeded as scheduled, the singer took a quiet moment between songs to acknowledge the fans who missed out.

“In my career, I’ve played hundreds of shows and only canceled six, and those were strictly unavoidable circumstances,” he explained. “I would gladly perform in the heart of a volcano if it meant playing for you. We tried every creative solution to reschedule, but it wasn’t in the cards. I feel terrible, and I know you deserved better.”

The decision to pull the plug came after local authorities determined that the severe thunderstorms posed an unacceptable safety risk. Citi Field officials stated that despite initial attempts to delay and adjust the schedule, the safety of the crowd remained the primary concern.

Kahan, whose recent album The Great Divide has held the top spot on the Billboard 200 for three weeks, has been maintaining a rigorous touring schedule since June. Following his time in New York, the artist is set to continue his North American trek before heading to Australia and Europe later this year.

The volatile New York weather also disrupted other events, with Zeds Dead being forced to postpone their performance at Forest Hills Stadium to mid-August, citing similar safety constraints.
