Noah Kahan Clarifies Commonly Misheard Lyrics That Aren’t Nearly as NSFW as Fans Think

Certain Noah Kahan enthusiasts are about to discover that several of his beloved lyrics are far less explicit than they originally assumed.

Taking to X on Wednesday (July 22) with a delightfully tongue-in-cheek public service announcement, the acclaimed singer-songwriter offered much-needed lyric corrections for concertgoers who have been enthusiastically misinterpreting his words. He first addressed his breakout anthem “Stick Season,” which climbed to No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024 to secure his very first top 10 placement.

“Saw your mom,” he posted. “Not Suck Your Mom.”

Continuing his hilarious clearing-the-air session, he targeted another frequent slip-up from his track “23,” off his latest record The Great Divide. “’Beat your a– into morning,’” he wrote, correcting the widely misunderstood phrasing. “Not Eat Your A– In The Morning.”

Wrapping up his PSA, Kahan confirmed that his song “Haircut” does not feature the line “Glad you got your a– cleaned,” but rather the intended lyric, “Glad you got your act cleaned.”

The Vermont-born artist is currently traversing the globe for his massive headlining tour following the immense success of The Great Divide, which dominated the Billboard 200 at No. 1 for three consecutive weeks after its April debut. Life on the road clearly exposed these widespread lyrical blunders, though the musician graciously added that fans should feel free to “sing from whatever place your mind takes you.”

Even so, creative interpretations involving bodily hygiene should probably not cross the line into literal sanitation disasters—a reminder that unfortunately stems from recent tour events. Following an incident where concert attendees discovered feces left on the floor during his June performance in Philadelphia, Kahan was forced to issue an entirely different variety of venue etiquette warning on social media.

“If you have to poop at a show please dear god just go to the bathroom lmao,” he urged at the time. “I’ve pooped my pants as much as the next 29 year old but you guys gotta understand there’s a venue worker out there with a 1000 yard stare after dealing with that.”
