New PS5 DualSense Revision Gains Longer Battery Life

Modder and technician Modyfikator89 reported on X that a new revision of the DualSense controller, labeled CFI-ZCT2W, delivers improved battery life.

It is built around a redesigned BDM-060 PCB that lengthens playtime by eliminating components such as the auxiliary microphone and refining the internal electronics.

You can verify your model by checking for the CFI-ZCT2W marking on the bottom of the box. The new revision appears in:

  • all PS5 Pro bundles (CFI-7121);
  • the new PS5 Slim kits (CFI-2116);
  • special color and themed controllers, for example the Icon Blue Special Edition and the Ghost of Yōtei Gold Limited Edition.

Modyfikator89 also noted that Sony removed the requirement to connect the PS5 to the internet to pair the disc drive on the new CFI-2100/2116 models and integrated the PS5 Pro’s cooling design into the standard console. The revised cooling system improves stability and longevity, preventing the liquid-metal leakage issues that affected the original PS5 and the Slim CFI-2016.
