At the same time, the streaming giant says it is “very excited” about WB Games’ potential.
Netflix has launched an $82.7 billion bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. The offer encompassed the gaming division, WB Games, including its studios, assets, and intellectual property — yet the official announcement and the subsequent investor call made no reference to that unit.
Only yesterday, at the UBS Global Technology Conference, Netflix co‑CEO Gregory Peters spoke publicly about WB Games’ future for the first time. Responding to an analyst’s question, he bluntly said the company had not initially assigned any material value to the gaming arm when assessing the deal.
Still, Peters stressed that Netflix is “very excited” about what WB Games could offer. He pointed to Hogwarts Legacy — which has sold more than 34 million copies as of March 2025 — noting it was the best‑selling title in the U.S. in 2023 and broke a 14‑year spell of dominance by Call of Duty and Rockstar Games.
