NCSOFT to publish cyberpunk shooter DEFECT, developed by creators of DOOM and The Last of Us
NC America, the corporation’s Western division, has been tasked with spearheading the project’s release.
NCSOFT’s Western publishing arm, NC America, will serve as the publisher for DEFECT. This upcoming cyberpunk shooter is currently under development at emptyvessel, a boutique studio founded by industry veterans known for their work on legendary titles like DOOM and The Last of Us.
Emanuel Palalic, CEO of emptyvessel, stated that the alliance with NCSOFT provides the studio with the necessary leverage to launch the project confidently on a global scale. He emphasized that the publisher’s backing is instrumental in establishing a robust framework for the game’s narrative-driven single-player experience.
DEFECT is designed as a team-centric first-person shooter. While the project focuses heavily on cooperative multiplayer, it will also offer a comprehensive, fully-realized solo mode for individual players.
