Morrissey Calls Off Las Vegas Residency Days Before Opening Night

Morrissey has officially called off his highly anticipated Las Vegas concert residency.

Ticketholders received notification on Friday, August 7, explaining that the legendary former Smiths frontman’s four-night engagement at the Encore Theater inside Wynn Las Vegas—originally set to kick off on August 14—has been scrapped due to unexpected logistical challenges, as reported by Rolling Stone.

“We regret to inform you that Morrissey – Live in Concert, slated for August 14, 15, 18, and 19 at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas, has been canceled,” the notification email stated. “Owing to unforeseen operational difficulties, the residency cannot proceed as planned.”

While the 67-year-old artist’s official tour page still displayed the Las Vegas dates at the time of publication, Wynn’s entertainment schedule had already removed them. Meanwhile, Ticketmaster notices informed patrons that the event organizer was forced to pull the plug.

Morrissey has yet to issue a personal statement regarding the sudden cancellation. Representatives for the singer have been approached by Billboard for further clarification.

The singer-songwriter’s most recent live appearance took place on August 1 at the Super Bock Arena located in Porto, Portugal.

Despite this setback, Morrissey’s broader U.S. itinerary remains scheduled through the autumn months, featuring appearances at Chicago’s Riot Fest on September 19 and the CBGB Festival in Brooklyn on September 26. Following stops in major cultural hubs such as Washington, D.C., Nashville, and Houston, the autumn run is slated to culminate with a headline performance at the Darker Waves Festival in Huntington Beach, California, on November 14. He is subsequently scheduled to complete a brief European tour to wrap up the calendar year.

Throughout his storied career, Morrissey has occasionally developed a reputation for postponing or scrapping performances due to various circumstances. According to Rolling Stone records, the artist canceled 25 shows and rescheduled 11 others throughout 2025 alone.

Earlier this year in January, Morrissey scrapped a pair of California performances—dates that had already been postponed from the previous year—pointing to underlying health concerns. Furthermore, in March, he withdrew from a scheduled appearance in Valencia, Spain, citing acute sleep deprivation brought on by a noisy nearby festival that left him in what representatives described as a catatonic state.

Morrissey rolled out his fourteenth studio full-length record, titled Make-Up Is a Lie, this past March.
