Mike Flanagan’s Exorcist film gets a title
Mike Flanagan’s upcoming reimagining of The Exorcist franchise has been officially titled Exorcist: Martyrs. This update has been confirmed through recent production filings associated with the project.
The film is being developed as a standalone entry and will not serve as a direct sequel to the 2023 installment,
The plot follows a young woman drawn into a harrowing investigation where she confronts an “unimaginable darkness” that begins to shatter her grasp on reality. The movie is being framed as a more psychological and investigative take on demonic possession, shifting away from the tone of its predecessors.
Scarlett Johansson is set to star in the film, which is helmed by Flanagan, the acclaimed director behind The Haunting of Hill House and Doctor Sleep. Production on the project has already wrapped, with a theatrical release scheduled for March 12, 2027.
