This move could serve as the primary justification for the latest subscription price hike.

Microsoft is reportedly exploring ways to expand its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier following the recent price increase to $30 per month. The new pricing, which took effect on October 1, 2025, met with considerable friction from the community, despite the inclusion of existing perks like Ubisoft+ Classics and Fortnite Crew.

Two weeks ago, The Verge cited internal sources claiming that Microsoft is looking into incorporating more third-party services to bolster the subscription’s value. Now, further details regarding these potential additions have surfaced.

Windows Central editor Jez Corden recently shared during a livestream that the company is weighing the integration of its own internal subscription models. According to Corden, there are ongoing discussions about bundling services such as World of Warcraft, Minecraft Realms, Fallout 1st, and The Elder Scrolls Online Plus into Game Pass Ultimate.

Corden noted that such an inclusion would significantly enhance the appeal of the $30 Ultimate tier. He characterized the current situation as a “race against time,” as Microsoft strives to convince players that the elevated cost is truly warranted.
