Legendary trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack have announced their long-awaited return to Australian stages. The group is set to embark on a three-date arena tour this August, marking their first headline performances in the country since 2010.

Fronted by Robert “3D” Del Naja and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall, the iconic Bristol outfit will bring their immersive live experience to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on August 6, Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on August 9, and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on August 11.

These dates, presented by Frontier Touring, signal a major homecoming for fans who have waited 16 years for the band’s return. Presale tickets for Frontier Members begin Thursday, June 4 at 2 p.m. local time, with the general public release following on Friday, June 5 at 3 p.m. local time via frontiertouring.com/massiveattack.

The tour news coincides with the release of “Boots on the Ground,” a fresh collaboration with the inimitable Tom Waits. This new track serves as a poignant reminder of the band’s creative vitality, more than three decades after they first emerged from the influential Wild Bunch sound system scene.

Few acts have shaped the landscape of electronic music as profoundly as Massive Attack. Their 1991 debut, Blue Lines, is widely credited with establishing the blueprint for the trip-hop genre and remains a staple on Rolling Stone’s list of the greatest albums of all time. Their 1998 masterpiece Mezzanine further solidified their status, delivering timeless tracks like “Teardrop” and “Angel,” while achieving massive global success.

Known for pushing boundaries, the collective’s live shows are renowned for their hypnotic blend of sonic depth and provocative visual storytelling, often integrating political commentary and innovative multimedia collaborations.
