As 2025 draws to a close, Warner Bros. Games has reportedly implemented a wave of layoffs at its San Francisco branch, according to several social media updates from departing staff members.
High-level departures include the studio’s Art Director and Design Director, both of whom were impacted by the workforce reduction.
Former Art Director Roland Herran shared his thoughts on the situation:
It has been an incredible journey, but all good things must eventually come to an end. Last month, I wrapped up my time at WB Games San Francisco after being affected by the layoffs. I am deeply grateful and immensely proud of everything we achieved together over the last 11 years.
Tony Perkins, the studio’s former Design Director, also reflected on the news:
I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with the team in San Francisco. The project we poured our hearts into turned out fantastic, and I remain very proud of it. Unfortunately, the stars simply didn’t align, and the game failed to find the level of success it truly deserved.
It remains unclear which specific project Perkins was referencing in his comments.
Established in 2013, WB Games San Francisco has primarily concentrated on mobile and free-to-play titles. These latest structural changes come as Warner Bros. Discovery explores a potential sale of its gaming division, with Netflix frequently mentioned as a prospective buyer for this segment of the business.
