Marvel Animation has officially unveiled the debut trailer for X-Men ’97 season 2. The studio confirmed a July 1 premiere date for the highly anticipated return of the beloved mutant saga on Disney Plus.

However, the horizon looks anything but bright for our heroes in this sophomore season. With the team splintered across the timeline and the looming, existential threat of Apocalypse haunting both the distant past and the unknown future, the stakes have never been higher. While Rogue grapples with the heartbreaking loss of Gambit and Jubilee struggles with her own sorrow, Nightcrawler remains a beacon of hope, steadfast in his belief that the X-Men can persevere. As the time-traveling Bishop asserts, the primary mission is clear: restore the X-Men to their rightful home in the 1990s.

X-Men ’97 Season 2 follows our resilient mutant icons as they remain fractured and displaced across the ages, fighting tooth and nail to find their way back to one another. Meanwhile, the 1990s are becoming increasingly hostile, with mounting prejudice and mysterious adversaries capitalizing on the X-Men’s sudden disappearance.

The nine-episode second season brings back the familiar, stellar voice cast, including Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and George Buza as Beast.

Picking up from the gut-wrenching cliffhangers that defined the 2024 debut, the series left our favorites either fighting for their lives, potentially facing resurrection, or stranded in the vast expanse of history. The new footage highlights these temporal shifts, showcasing characters like Rogue, Polaris, and Rachel Summers in fresh, daunting environments.
