Marvel’s Top Mobile Game Is Finally Getting Its Most-Requested Feature

Following years of widespread community anticipation, Marvel Snap is set to debut its highly requested Draft mode on August 24.

Launching as a limited-time event, the mode introduces a radical shift to the digital collectible card game’s core mechanics. According to details shared in an exclusive feature with GameSpot, matches begin with players selecting a three-card foundational package centered around signature archetypes such as Ongoing, Move, Destroy, or Ramp.

From that baseline, players draft seven supplementary cards featuring tailored Power/Cost adjustments or distinctive, mode-exclusive modifiers known as “augments.” To claim an overall victory, competitors must navigate five winning rounds, refining and augmenting their 12-card roster with additional cards and power-ups as the run progresses.

“Snap has a much lower number of cards, you have very small decks, so even the amount of variance you get isn’t super high, as well as the synergy is very high. There’s all these things that were really working against it, and it’s part of why it took so long to eventually get to a place where we were really happy with what we had as an offering,” explained developer Sam Stoddard. “We definitely need to really stress test it with a much larger group of people.”

The intricate balance required for such condensed decks explains why developer Second Dinner chose an initial limited-time run rather than an immediate permanent fixture. This framework allows the team to assess matchmaking data, identify balance discrepancies, and stress-test the format under real-world conditions.

Since premiering in late 2022, Marvel Snap has maintained a consistent weekly content cadence, retaining a dedicated competitive scene despite shifting metagames. The introduction of a dedicated drafting format represents one of the most substantial mechanical expansions in the game’s lifecycle.

Draft mode will be accessible across Windows PC, iOS, and Android platforms starting August 24. Future iterations and potential permanent inclusion will depend heavily on the player data and feedback gathered throughout this inaugural run.
