Marvel Reveals New X-Men Movie Cast at D23

Marvel Studios is rebooting its X-Men franchise with a brand-new ensemble. The studio’s plans under Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier have generated widespread speculation for years.

At D23, Disney’s fan convention, Marvel unveiled the actors stepping into the MCU as its central team of mutants. The announcements build on the first mutant revealed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige introduced the lineup on stage, confirming the new actors for Cyclops, Storm, Professor X, Rogue, and others. The upcoming film, titled X-Men, will arrive in theaters on May 5, 2028.

Adam Driver as Mister Sinister

Adam Driver, known for the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Girls, and Megalopolis, joins the MCU after passing on previous offers. Driver appeared at D23 through a pre-recorded video, briefly teasing the crowd before revealing his real role as Nathaniel Milbury, an alias of Mister Sinister.

“When Kevin told me to show up for X-Men, I assumed he meant on set,” Driver said. “So instead of being there in California, I’m here at Pinewood on this very lonely soundstage. Kevin and I have been talking for years about maybe joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And I think we finally found the perfect film at the perfect time. So I’m very excited to be playing Magneto… Nope. Even better. Nathaniel Milbury. So I’ll be right here, waiting for everybody to show up.”

Christopher Abbott as Professor X/Charles Xavier

Christopher Abbott reunites with his former Girls co-star to play Charles Xavier, the leader of the school for gifted youngsters. Abbott has built an extensive filmography across independent cinema, including Possessor, Poor Things, and It Comes at Night. He previously played the assassin Foreigner in Sony Pictures’ Kraven the Hunter.

Sadie Sink as Jean Grey

Sadie Sink, known for Stranger Things, was previously revealed as Jean Grey in a brief appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The conclusion of that film showed Jean on an autumnal bus ride, which pointed toward Xavier’s school in upstate New York.

Kit Connor as Cyclops/Scott Summers

Kit Connor steps into the role of Scott Summers, succeeding previous live-action performers James Marsden and Tye Sheridan. Connor previously appeared in Warfare and Heartstopper. The actor will also appear in an undisclosed role in the 2028 Elden Ring feature adaptation.

Samara Weaving as White Queen/Emma Frost

Samara Weaving’s casting as Emma Frost, also known as the White Queen, follows earlier reports this month. Weaving’s past credits include Ready or Not, The Babysitter, Scream 6, and Polygon’s Shelf Quest.

Inde Navarette as Rogue

Obsession actor Inde Navarette will portray Rogue, taking over the role previously played in live-action films by Anna Paquin.

Maya Boyd as Storm/Ororo Munroe

Maya Boyd will take on the role of Ororo Munroe, the team’s weather-manipulating hero previously portrayed by Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp. Boyd is best known for her background in Broadway productions.

Kevin Feige noted during the presentation that additional casting details will follow.
