Marathon to receive first patch addressing the shooter’s most pressing issues by the end of the week
A significant refinement to the objective tracking system leads the upcoming changes.
Bungie is preparing to deploy the first major post-launch update for Marathon. Scheduled for release later this week, the patch aims to resolve several prominent issues flagged by the community during the title’s debut weekend.
A core focus of this update is the way mission objectives are displayed. In the current build, markers only trigger when a player is within a strict 10-meter radius of their target. This proximity requirement has caused frustration, as players often find themselves circling structures multiple times just to pinpoint a specific terminal or interaction point.
To streamline the experience, the detection range will be doubled to 20 meters. According to the development team, this adjustment should mitigate navigation friction while still honoring the game’s emphasis on environmental exploration.
The update also addresses resource distribution on the “Perimeter” map. Players will find an increased presence of medical stations and ammunition crates throughout the zone to better balance the gameplay loop.
Furthermore, starting gear provided by the MIDA, CyberAcme, and Arachne corporations will now include a more substantial supply of basic ammo to improve initial combat readiness.
Bungie also acknowledged ongoing critiques regarding the game’s microtransaction economy. While fundamental changes are being planned for the near future, they are not part of this week’s technical patch.
One confirmed upcoming adjustment involves the $10 LUX currency bundle. Its value will be increased from 1,100 to 1,120 LUX. To ensure fairness, players who have already purchased the pack will be retroactively credited with the missing 20 units.
