Gamescom 2026 to Be the Largest in the Event’s History
Gamescom 2026 is on track to be the largest edition in the event’s history, with trade fair organizer Koelnmesse and the German Games Industry Association (game) confirming record exhibitor numbers, international presence, and indie participation ahead of the August 25 opening ceremony.
This year’s show floor will host more than 1,600 exhibitors from 67 countries, with roughly 70% of participants traveling from outside Germany. By comparison, the 2025 trade fair featured 1,568 companies.
The event also set a new high for national showcases, featuring 47 country pavilions representing 40 nations, up from 40 pavilions across 35 countries the previous year. Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Morocco, and Nigeria will have dedicated national pavilions at the convention for the first time.

The total exhibition space spans 233,000 square meters and has completely sold out for the first time in the event’s history. Visitor attendance is also seeing heavy demand, with Saturday passes and special ticket tiers already sold out before doors open.
The indie section registered significant growth, with more than 420 companies set to present hundreds of titles. That represents a 16% increase compared to 2025, when 364 developers attended the indie area. Organizers aim to position the zone as a core hub for projects developed outside the traditional blockbuster model.
Gamescom will also run an extensive digital broadcast schedule. Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live serves as the centerpiece presentation, streaming on August 25 at 9:00 p.m. MSK.
