Bungie continues to refine the gameplay balance of its upcoming extraction shooter.
Bungie has deployed Update 1.0.0.4 for Marathon, delivering a comprehensive overhaul of the item economy alongside significant adjustments to enemy and weapon scaling. In addition to addressing several technical glitches, the patch introduces new contracts and implements strategic changes to various playable environments.
Within the “Perimeter” sector, the frequency of medical stations and ammunition caches has been increased. Furthermore, the developers have boosted the initial ammo counts for the complimentary MIDA, CyberAcme, and Arachne sponsorship loadouts to better assist players during initial deployment.
Conversely, the drop rate for EMP grenades from UESC Grenadiers has been slightly reduced.
Enemies within the UESC faction have received a modest health reduction, and boss-level encounters now feature decreased shield pools. According to the studio, these adjustments are intended to lower resource consumption during skirmishes without trivializing the challenge posed by the adversaries.
For the Rook shell, several issues have been resolved, including a bug where backpacks would disappear during extraction and errors in map position tracking. Additionally, successful extractions with the Rook shell now grant a higher CyberAcme reputation reward, with the bonus now correctly aligned for solo players.
