Two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali, celebrated for his role in Green Book, is set to take on a lead role in the upcoming second season of HBO’s Task.
Ali will portray Eddie Barnes, a highly esteemed DEA agent whose methods and authority put him at odds with the specialized task force led by Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo).
The series is the brainchild of Brad Ingelsby, the acclaimed creator of Mare of Easttown. Task premiered this September to stellar reviews, currently maintaining a 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While excitement is building for the next chapter, a specific release window for the second season remains under wraps.
This project marks another prestigious television turn for Ali, who previously delivered standout performances in House of Cards and led the third installment of the anthology series True Detective.
