Maggie Gyllenhaal’s ‘The Bride!’ gets a digital release date
Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial effort, The Bride!, is scheduled to arrive on international streaming platforms on April 7, according to reports from WhenToStream.
Despite the star power of Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale, the film faced a difficult theatrical run following its March debut. It managed to recoup only $23 million against a substantial $100 million production budget. Critical response was similarly tepid, resulting in a 58% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
A reimagining of the 1935 classic Bride of Frankenstein, the story is transposed to 1930s Chicago. The narrative follows the monster, Frank (Bale), as he secures a companion (Buckley) from his creator. The high-profile supporting cast includes Penélope Cruz, Annette Bening, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
