Louisiana’s murals add vibrant personality to town centers and highway corridors alike. While driving through the state you may spot the “Experience Ruston” mural adorning a downtown façade, complete with peach imagery woven into the composition — a lively nod to local identity.

Mansfield features two distinct flag-themed murals: one channels the community spirit of a baseball game, while the other incorporates aviation motifs. In Shreveport you’ll find a bold, eclectic piece (seen at the top of this post) as well as an expansive mural that blankets an entire building wall, visible from the main thoroughfare.

Murals also punctuate other communities across the state — from Lafayette and Baton Rouge to Houma — so when you’re hauling freight through Louisiana, take a moment to scan the streets. Those details are part of what gives each town its distinctive character.

Sculpture & monuments

We recreated several notable statues for the DLC. In Baton Rouge, Columbus Plaza features a statue of Christopher Columbus — a sculptural landmark that reflects one facet of the city’s public art collection.

Traveling west on I‑10 you’ll encounter the Atchafalaya Welcome Center, home to a modest memorial that commemorates the Louisiana Airborne Memorial Bridge and honors local veterans. In Houma, a moving bronze of a mother and her children stands near the city court, offering a quieter, more personal tribute.
