Lizzo Makes ‘Sports Illustrated’ Swimsuit Debut: ‘My Newest Fantasy Is Feeling Good in My Body’

Lizzo is ushering in the new month with a major milestone, gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated’s digital Swimsuit issue for July 2026.

For the sun-drenched shoot, captured at a luxurious Miami estate, the “About Damn Time” icon showcased pieces from her own Yitty Swim collection. This marks her second high-profile collaboration with the publication this year; she previously energized the crowd during the May 2026 SI Swimsuit Runway Show in Miami, where she commanded the catwalk in a vibrant one-piece emblazoned with a bold message reflecting her latest album, Bitch.

“My current focus is purely on somatic well-being and finding genuine delight in my daily life,” the 38-year-old shared with Sports Illustrated. “I’ve pushed myself to such extremes in the past that I hit a wall with my mental health. I’m actively unlearning those patterns now. True artistry shouldn’t be fueled by fear or debilitating anxiety—I’m simply pursuing happiness.”

This commitment to self-care arrives alongside a packed creative agenda. While it has been years since her breakout performance in Hustlers, Lizzo is set to make a triumphant return to cinema, starring as the legendary Sister Rosetta Tharpe in an upcoming biopic.

“The script is currently in development, and we are being incredibly meticulous,” she noted. “It is vital that we portray a Black woman of her era with nuance and depth. I want this film to truly honor her legacy as the musical pioneer she was.”

Beyond her musical and acting endeavors, Lizzo is expanding her reach into literature. This September, she will release Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B. Flootin’, a picture book illustrated by Mark Pett that chronicles a young girl’s journey toward finding her voice through the power of music. “I’m passionate about encouraging the next generation to pick up instruments,” she remarked. “It’s a fundamental part of expression that I feel is being lost.”

Reflecting on her recent work, Lizzo has also been lending her expertise as a guest professor at Kai Cenat’s Streamer University. She recently made headlines for offering heartfelt guidance on self-love to artist Plaqueboymax following an unfortunate encounter with online harassment.

While her latest album, Bitch, charted in niche categories, fans continue to support her boundary-pushing sound as she enters this transformative new chapter of her career.
