Lilo & Stitch creator to direct sequel
Chris Sanders, the visionary co-creator behind the beloved Lilo and Stitch characters, is officially set to direct the franchise’s highly anticipated sequel, according to recent media reports.
Beyond his directorial duties, Sanders will reprise his iconic role as the voice of Stitch. The live-action reimagining of the original Disney classic, released in 2025 and directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (known for “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”), proved to be a massive commercial success, grossing over $1 billion worldwide.
The narrative follows a young girl living in Hawaii who forms an unlikely and heartwarming bond with a mischievous, fuzzy blue extraterrestrial. While a specific release date for the follow-up has yet to be announced, Sanders is simultaneously developing a sequel to his acclaimed animated feature, “The Wild Robot.”
