League of Legends recently experienced a significant service disruption, leaving players across multiple regions unable to authenticate their accounts or access core features. In response to the crisis, Riot Games temporarily suspended all ranked queues while engineering teams worked to resolve the underlying technical issues.

Riot formally addressed the situation via social media, stating:

“We are aware of an issue impacting gameplay and preventing some players from logging in. Ranked queues have been temporarily disabled while we work on a fix. Thank you for your patience.”

While login functionality through the League of Legends client was eventually restored, users continued to face hurdles when attempting to load into matches or download necessary updates. Developers clarified that these lingering issues were expected and that work was underway to update the game’s installers.

Later, a Riot employee known as RiotFlixxy provided a status update:

“We believe the necessary remediations are now live and functional for both the Riot Client and the League Client.”

Riot Games has not officially disclosed the root cause of the failure. Many within the community speculate that the outage was triggered by an expired security certificate within the client, though the company has yet to verify this theory.

As services continue to stabilize, players are encouraged to restart their Riot Client and ensure all pending updates are fully installed to resume normal play.
