Analyst Explains Why Most Games Do Not Need to Fear GTA VI
The November release of GTA VI has prompted many developers to delay their own games, although analyst Mat Piscatella considers these fears exaggerated and believes other titles will retain their audience.
The head of games industry analysis at Circana stated in an interview that not nearly all players are interested in the new Grand Theft Auto.
The fear many teams have about releasing their games at the same time as GTA is completely exaggerated. GTA will be a huge game. Of course.
According to Mat Piscatella, the United States has 49 million PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series owners, and not every single one of them will want to play GTA VI. Other audiences also exist, including Nintendo Switch and PC owners.
The analyst advises developers of cozy games, life simulators, and first-person shooters not to worry about competition.
The mere fact that Grand Theft Auto is coming out does not mean there will be no audience left for other games.
At the same time, many studios have still decided to steer clear of November.
Everyone is simply scared. I think these concerns are completely exaggerated.
In his opinion, developers have effectively cleared out the entire release window for GTA VI.
However, the analyst acknowledges the scale of the upcoming launch:
We haven’t seen a game this big in… literally 13 years!
