Labrinth Reveals Why He Won’t Score ‘Euphoria’ Season 3: ‘I Don’t Let People Treat Me Like S—t’

Labrinth has set the record straight regarding his decision to withdraw his music from the third season of HBO’s Euphoria.

On Saturday, April 11, the 37-year-old British producer and vocalist took to his Instagram Stories to address his absence from the highly anticipated new season, which is scheduled to premiere on April 12.

“People will comfortably lie in this industry and still call themselves honest,” Labrinth wrote in a pointed, all-caps message. “So, no cap: I decided to remove whatever music I had in it.”

This revelation follows the announcement that legendary Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer has been tapped as the sole musical architect for the show’s eight-episode third season, which will feature a five-year time jump. Previously, reports indicated that Zimmer would be collaborating alongside Labrinth to score the series.

“I spoke to HBO, and as far as I know, we are cool,” Labrinth clarified in his statement. “I left because, to be honest, when I work for someone, their vision is paramount to me. But I won’t let people treat me like s—t.”

This is not the first time the musician has voiced grievances regarding his professional environment. In mid-March, Labrinth shared a since-deleted social media post expressing his frustration with both his record label and the production of Euphoria, stating, “I’m done with this industry / F—k Columbia / Double F–k Euphoria / I’m out.”

Commenting on the transition, Euphoria creator Sam Levinson recently told Rolling Stone, “I don’t know,” when asked about the situation, noting, “He’s an incredible collaborator and someone who really built the foundation of the sound of Euphoria.” Levinson further explained that bringing in Zimmer was a strategic move, adding, “On Euphoria, each character’s storyline functions almost like its own individual film.”

Labrinth has been the primary creative force behind the show’s distinctive sonic identity since its 2019 debut. A seasoned artist, he previously recorded for Simon Cowell’s Syco label and has secured seven entries on the Billboard Hot 100 since his 2010 breakthrough, including a high-profile collaboration with Euphoria lead Zendaya.

Labrinth is scheduled to perform on the outdoor stage at the 2026 Coachella festival this Saturday, April 11.
