Koei Tecmo is developing a new game with the support of the Japanese government

The project bears the codename FUJI.

Koei Tecmo Games confirmed the existence of this unannounced title through a list published by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). The ministry selected the game for participation in the IP360 government program.

Launched in March 2026, the IP360 initiative supports the creation of new Japanese intellectual properties in video games, manga, and anime. The program provides state subsidies and development assistance to help studios bring original projects to the global market.

Koei Tecmo received funding specifically for the development of a new game under the working title FUJI. While specific details remain limited, the documentation provides some insight into the company’s goals.

FUJI is a new intellectual property designed to leverage the studio’s expertise in Eastern aesthetics and dynamic action. Koei Tecmo aims to turn this title into a global success and build a foundation for a franchise that expands beyond the initial game.

The emphasis on Eastern aesthetics and combat suggests a direction similar to Dynasty Warriors, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, or Rise of the Ronin. Since the company identifies FUJI as a brand-new franchise, the developers likely intend to introduce mechanics distinct from their existing library.

Konami, Square Enix, and Sega also received support through the IP360 program. Koei Tecmo has not yet announced a reveal date, but the government backing indicates the project is a strategic priority intended for international audiences.
