Enthusiast Ports GTA IV to PS5, With Part of the Work Done by AI
GTA IV now runs on a modified PS5 using a fan project and an Xbox 360 disc image. It is not a full port, and AI handled part of the work.
Graphic designer Ruben Ripalda adapted OZORDI’s Liberty Recompiled project for a hacked Sony console. The solution lets players run the game from an Xbox 360 image and import their saves.
The port used the AI model Claude, including to implement DualSense controller support, trophies, and button prompts.

The project has sparked a debate about using AI in programming. This approach, known as vibe coding, can make code harder to maintain, hurt optimization, and increase the risk of bugs and vulnerabilities. Updates can also create new problems.
A gameplay video is available at the link on X.
Running GTA IV on the PS5 shows what fan projects can do, but it requires a modified console. Rockstar could get the project shut down, though there is no information about any such action so far.
