Kirsten Dunst to Star in “The Housemaid” Sequel

Academy Award nominee Kirsten Dunst, acclaimed for her roles in Melancholia and the Spider-Man trilogy, has officially joined the cast of the upcoming sequel to The Housemaid. Lionsgate recently confirmed the high-profile casting addition.

The follow-up, titled The Housemaid’s Secret, is based on the gripping novel by Freida McFadden. The narrative follows Millie (Sydney Sweeney) as she takes a new position working for the enigmatic Mrs. Garrick (Dunst). While Millie is strictly forbidden from seeing her employer, she soon uncovers a dark mystery surrounding Mrs. Garrick—one that proves far more chilling than any of her own secrets.

Director Paul Feig is set to return for the second installment, with a theatrical release projected for 2027. The original film was a massive commercial success, earning $396 million at the global box office, including a significant 1.3 billion rubles from Russian audiences.

In addition to this project, Dunst was recently linked to the cast of the upcoming Minecraft movie sequel.
