Kirsten Dunst to Star in Minecraft Sequel

Kirsten Dunst, the acclaimed Spider-Man star, has officially joined the cast of the Minecraft movie sequel, according to recent reports.

While specific details regarding her role remain under wraps, the follow-up will see the return of leads Jason Momoa and Jack Black. Jared Hess is slated to return to the director’s chair, with the film’s theatrical release currently scheduled for July 23, 2027.

The franchise’s debut installment, which premiered in April 2025, was a massive commercial success, grossing $961 million worldwide. Inspired by the landmark 2009 sandbox game, the narrative centers on four protagonists who find themselves transported into a surreal, block-based wonderland.

Dunst’s recent portfolio includes the drama Roofman. She also recently wrapped production on the satirical comedy The Entertainment System Is Down, starring alongside Keanu Reeves.
