Distributors KINOMANIA and RWV Film are bringing Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s beloved classic, “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” back to the big screen in Russia.
The theatrical re-release is scheduled for July 16. Audiences will have the opportunity to experience a pristine 4K restoration of the film, accompanied by a fresh Russian-language dub produced by Studio Gang.
Based on the eponymous novel by Eiko Kadono, the narrative follows a young witch named Kiki. As per long-standing tradition, she must embark on a year of independent training upon turning thirteen. Her journey leads her to a charming seaside town, where she establishes a unique flying express delivery service.
In related news, the BBC has announced plans to develop a live-action series adaptation of the story, with Irena Brignull (“The Little Prince”) attached as the creator.
