The upcoming Cannes film market will showcase a new war drama titled “Melodies in the Forest,” featuring Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey in the lead role.
The narrative centers on a fictional 85-year-old conductor named Petr Novotny, portrayed by Spacey, as he grapples with the lingering trauma of his wartime experiences. Production is scheduled to begin this autumn in Italy and the Czech Republic.
Spacey has faced numerous allegations of sexual misconduct over the years, becoming one of the first high-profile Hollywood figures to face “cancellation,” alongside producer Harvey Weinstein. While he was dismissed from the series “House of Cards” in 2017 following harassment accusations, he was later cleared of wrongdoing. In 2023, a London jury similarly found Spacey not guilty of sexually assaulting several men.
In recent years, Spacey has focused on independent cinema, appearing in projects such as the thriller “Peter Five Eight” and the science fiction film “The Penguin & The Fisherman” (or related indie endeavors like “The Red Sister”).
