Ben Affleck’s “Animals” Released on Netflix
Netflix has officially released “Animals,” the latest directorial endeavor from actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck.
In the film, Affleck portrays Marc Kimball, a Los Angeles mayoral candidate whose son is abducted. Desperate to secure his son’s safe return, Kimball and his wife resort to extreme measures, a decision that threatens to devastate both their professional reputations and the lives of those they hold dear.
The ensemble cast features notable performances from Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson, and Steven Yeun, among others. The screenplay was co-written by Billy Ray, known for “Captain Phillips.” Matt Damon serves as a producer on the project; notably, he and Affleck also teamed up earlier this year for the crime thriller “RIP.”
Critics have weighed in on “Animals,” with the consensus leaning heavily negative, reflected by a 39% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 31/100 rating on Metacritic. Reviews have been harsh, describing the film as a “disaster,” “shockingly poor,” and “lethargic,” among other unfavorable critiques.
