Kena: Scars Of Kosmora Set To Lead Players On A New Adventure This Year

Kena: Scars of Kosmora Official Reveal

During the latest PlayStation State of Play, Ember Lab officially unveiled Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the much-anticipated successor to their 2021 hit, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. This new chapter features a matured Kena as she ventures into uncharted lands, with a release slated for later this year.

In Scars of Kosmora, an older and more renowned Kena travels to a cryptic island in a desperate search for a remedy to a spreading blight and to reconnect with a long-lost companion. Early in her journey, a formidable corruption shatters her signature staff, forcing her to master a long-forgotten discipline of Spirit Guiding. This ancient power allows her to manipulate the elements themselves to overcome the darkness.

The reveal trailer notably lacked any sign of the Rot, the diminutive forest spirits that aided her in the original game. Instead, Kena is accompanied by fresh mystical allies, such as a small, magical fox. The footage even showcased her traversing a sprawling open world on the back of a deer-like mount.

Developer Ember Lab is promising a more sophisticated and fluid combat experience. Kena’s updated arsenal still relies on her staff for rhythmic combos and well-timed parries, but she can now manifest colossal green crystals to crush her enemies or reshape her staff into a devastating, claymore-style heavy weapon.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC in late 2024.
