Global sensation KATSEYE has delivered a heartfelt update to their dedicated fanbase, known as EYEKONS, regarding Sophia Laforteza’s ongoing health and her participation in upcoming performances.

On Sunday, August 30, the international powerhouse collective utilized social media to clarify whether their esteemed leader would rejoin the lineup for the highly anticipated Wildworld Tour following the initial announcement of her hiatus earlier in the month.

“We want to share a direct update concerning Sophia’s schedule moving forward,” KATSEYE shared via an official statement on their Instagram Stories. “Sophia is dedicating this time entirely to her personal well-being, and both the management and the label remain steadfast in providing her with comprehensive support and resources.”

The announcement, which was co-published on Wverse and formally endorsed by HYBE and Geffen Records, confirmed that Sophia will not perform during the European and United Kingdom legs of the Wildworld Tour, which run from September 1 through September 7.

“We deeply appreciate the profound understanding of our EYEKONS, as the physical and mental health of our artists will always remain our highest priority,” the statement continued. “We promise to share further developments as they unfold. Please continue to envelop Sophia and the rest of KATSEYE in your love and encouragement.”

Sophia’s temporary stepping away from group responsibilities was originally announced by HYBE x Geffen on August 7. Label representatives confirmed that she would pause promotional engagements to center her mental health and holistic wellness. Following evaluations and guidance from medical professionals, she was advised to take an extended period of rest and recuperation, with her status scheduled for reassessment in September, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Offering a reassuring look into her recovery, Sophia’s mother, accomplished actress Carla Guevara-Laforteza, recently shared how her daughter is spending her peaceful hiatus away from the rigorous demands of the spotlight.

“Right now, Sophia is fully embracing her time off,” Guevara-Laforteza shared in an interview with Vogue Philippines. “She visits Disneyland regularly, channels her creativity into baking and painting, and is genuinely engaging in whatever brings her peace and mental clarity.”

This period of rest follows a similar health-focused hiatus taken by fellow member Manon back in February. Meanwhile, the remaining members—Lara, Daniela, Yoonchae, and Megan—have continued to fly the flag for the group, recently delivering a dynamic performance at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival on August 29.

KATSEYE continues to cement its legacy as a definitive force in modern pop, having recently celebrated a monumental milestone by securing their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with their critically acclaimed EP WILD, which features chart-topping Billboard Hot 100 hits like “Pinky Up” and “Gnarly.”
