Rather than adapting material directly from Naoya Matsumoto’s original manga, Narumi’s Week at Work presents an original story. The draft comes from Kizuku Watanabe, who worked on the comedy spinoff manga Kaiju No. 8: Relax. The four episodes explore Narumi’s chaotic routine and the mundane parts of his Defense Force role.

The first episode of Kaiju No. 8: Narumi’s Week at Work releases on Sept. 5, with subsequent installments dropping weekly on Sept. 12, Sept. 19, and Sept. 26. In Japan, episodes stream Saturdays at 8 p.m. JST on TOHO animation’s YouTube channel.
