Journalists Praise Silent Hill: Townfall Demo
Silent Hill: Townfall has impressed journalists with its unusual approach to the franchise, its atmosphere, and its decision to forgo the traditional third-person camera.
Media representatives sampled an early version of the game at Gamescom and came away extremely satisfied. After spending an hour with Townfall, some journalists who had been skeptical about the return of the series stated that the game could convince even the biggest doubters.
The story takes place in Scotland, in the town of St. Amillia in 1996. The protagonist, Simon Ordall, wakes up on a shore with no memory of his connections to the place.

The main difference is the first-person camera. It is tied to investigations, as the character uses a pocket television to trigger visions of the past and spot threats in the fog. The developers rely on slow-building tension, sound, and paranoia rather than jump scares.
At the same time, the game features surreal monsters, ranging from a humanoid with an axe embedded in its head to a giant figure towering over the clouds.
