The video opens at an elegant holiday soiree: Carter Faith glides through the scene in an off-the-shoulder red cocktail dress, Aperol spritz in hand, surrounded by guests dressed to the nines. The mood shifts when the door opens and Fallon arrives — hilariously overdressed in a gaudy red-and-green sweater embroidered with a giant treble clef, Santa, reindeer and the words “FA LA.”

In a deliberately deep, country-tinged drawl, Fallon croons about being the odd one out: “I was the only one in an ugly sweater,” he sings, confessing his holiday faux pas with self-effacing humor. The track was written by Fallon, produced by acclaimed producer Dave Cobb, and is slated for release on Republic Records.

Fallon has repeatedly returned to holiday music throughout his career, charting seasonal singles and albums on Billboard’s lists. His 2024 holiday LP, Holiday Seasoning, spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Comedy Albums chart and reached No. 2 on Top Holiday Albums. Past seasonal singles include collaborations that landed on radio charts: 2021’s “It Was a (Masked Christmas)” with Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion, 2022’s “Almost Too Early for Christmas” with Dolly Parton, 2023’s “Wrap Me Up” with Meghan Trainor, and 2024’s “Holiday” with the Jonas Brothers, which became his first No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

Carter Faith, who Billboard named Country Rookie of the Month in March after signing a publishing agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group Nashville, recently released her debut album Cherry Valley via MCA Nashville in October.

The full premiere of “Ugly Sweater” will air on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC and will be available to stream on Peacock. That episode also features musical guest Ed Sheeran and appearances by Brad Paisley and Joe Keery (performing as Djo).
