The Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg has been a regular blood donor for many years, but he says he’s ready to take that commitment further. Speaking on the Today show, Eisenberg revealed his plan to donate a kidney.
“I’m planning to have it done in mid-December. I’m very grateful for the opportunity — my kidney will go to a stranger,” the actor said.
He added that the procedure carries no significant risks and voiced the hope that the recipient’s descendants might one day pay the kindness forward by donating organs themselves.
It’s worth noting that the United States is currently facing a shortage of organ donors: the kidney transplant waiting list has grown to around 90,000 people.
