James Gunn Discussed a Constantine Sequel with Keanu Reeves

Director and DC Studios head James Gunn has commented on the current state of preparations for the sequel to the fantasy-horror film Constantine.

Gunn said that he still hasn’t read the screenplay, although he has already spoken about the project with leading actor Keanu Reeves.

“We talk about it from time to time — with Keanu, for example. Beyond that… I think they’re great people. I like all of them. They’re talented, but I haven’t read a single draft of the script yet,” Gunn told BobaTalks.

The Constantine sequel was first announced in 2022. Francis Lawrence, who directed the original film, is also attached to the project. Reeves reportedly rejected an early draft of the script, but later approved a revised version. No release date has been announced.

Constantine premiered in 2005. The story centers on exorcist and medium John Constantine, who patrols the boundary between Heaven and Hell in search of redemption. The film is based on the Hellblazer comic series from DC Comics.
