James Gunn Denies Simultaneous Filming of Two Matt Reeves Batman Sequels

DC Studios co-head James Gunn has denied the rumor that Matt Reeves is shooting the second and third installments of The Batman with Robert Pattinson at the same time.

Some fans speculated that simultaneous production could explain why the sequel received another delay. Discussion started after journalist Bill Ramey published an updated logo for The Batman Part II. The usual number two was replaced by the Roman numeral III, leading some fans to assume that Reeves is preparing two sequels at once.

One user asked Gunn directly if the second and third parts are being filmed together and if this explains the film’s delay. The DC Studios head answered plainly: “I can debunk that.”

Gunn’s response puts an end to the simultaneous filming theory, though it does not rule out the possibility of a third movie appearing in the future.

The Batman Part II was originally scheduled for release on October 1, 2027. The picture is now scheduled to premiere on February 18, 2028.
