James Gunn is working on Man of Tomorrow, which serves as the sequel to the 2025 film Superman. Despite the DC film releasing next year, Gunn has already started writing his next project.

James Gunn shared the news on Threads. He joked that he began writing because he had to do something while waiting for the assembly cut of Man of Tomorrow. Gunn announced over the weekend that the assembly cut is complete. Post-production on Man of Tomorrow will likely require him to put his new writing project on hold.

James Gunn did not reveal any details about the upcoming project. Warner Bros. Discovery holds his exclusive deal, though the company will soon be called Skydance following a merger with Paramount. While the DC schedule features multiple projects, most already have writers or directors attached who are not James Gunn.

Gunn continues to shoot down Wonder Woman rumors

James Gunn also had to address speculation sparked by a Man of Tomorrow actor. Frank Grillo reposted a fan-made poster depicting Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman. Fans have treated this as a primary theory despite a lack of official confirmation. James Gunn addressed the situation on Threads by writing, “Frank doesn’t know who Adria is playing in the DCU and whether or not she has any sort of incredibly small cameo in [Man of Tomorrow] or not. People have been making way too much of this.”

While many actors in the DCU are reprising previous roles, the new casting choices draw significant fan interest. Adria Arjona’s specific role remains a mystery. Matthew Lillard has also been the subject of widespread speculation, prompting James Gunn to shut down rumors that Matthew Lillard would play the DCU’s Flash.
