Acclaimed lead of Luther and The Wire, Idris Elba, has been formally knighted by King Charles III, according to various media outlets.
The prestigious honor was bestowed upon Elba in recognition of his dedicated social work with the youth and his commitment to crime prevention. The actor leads these humanitarian efforts through the Elba Hope Foundation, a charitable organization he co-founded with his wife, Sabrina.
Fans can also expect to see Elba back on screen this January, when the second season of the high-stakes thriller Hijack premieres on Apple TV+.
