“I Feel Like a Failure”: Marvel Boss Regrets Not Making ‘Blade’
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has candidly expressed his frustrations regarding the long-stalled Blade reboot.
The project was officially unveiled to significant fanfare at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, with Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali (known for *Green Book*) tapped to star as the titular vampire hunter. However, the production has been plagued by setbacks; after cycling through multiple directors and facing repeated scheduling conflicts, the film was eventually removed from the release calendar indefinitely.
“I feel like a total loser that it hasn’t worked out with Mahershala,”
Feige admitted during an appearance on the *Happy Sad Confused* podcast. Despite the turmoil, Feige previously stated in 2025 that the film remained a key priority for the studio. Ali has also expressed a continued desire to step into the role. The project was initially slated to feature performances by Mia Goth and Aaron Pierre.
