Husky to portray Lermontov in new biopic

A new biographical film centered on the renowned poet Mikhail Lermontov was officially presented at the Cinema Foundation’s recent pitch session.

The project will be helmed by director Pavel Lungin (“Taxi Blues,” “The Island”), with rapper Huskyreal name: Dmitry Kuznetsov cast in the lead role. The musician is already familiar to audiences for his performances in “The Businessman,” “Petrov’s Flu,” and “Execution.”

“A poet should be portrayed by a poet,”

— Lungin remarked, explaining his decision to cast Husky. Production for the biopic is slated to begin in 2027, with a targeted theatrical release in Russia set for 2028.

The narrative follows Lermontov as he aspires to marry the socialite Yekaterina Sushkova and secure a meeting with Alexander Pushkin. After Sushkova rejects his advances and Pushkin is killed before they can cross paths, a disillusioned Lermontov decides to challenge his own destiny.

It is worth noting that a film titled “Lermontov,” directed by Bakur Bakuradze, was released in 2025, featuring comedian Ilya Ozolin in the title role. That production garnered favorable reviews from critics.
