Hugh Jackman’s “The Death of Robin Hood” Receives First Critical Reviews

The initial wave of reviews has surfaced for A24’s historical thriller, The Death of Robin Hood. Starring Hugh Jackman, the film is set to premiere in international theaters next week on June 19.

As of this writing, the film holds a 67% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 62 out of 100 on Metacritic. Critics have highlighted the movie’s grim atmosphere, the assured direction of Michael Sarnoski (known for A Quiet Place: Day One), and a compelling lead performance from Jackman.

The Death of Robin Hood reimagines the classic English folktale. The narrative follows the legendary outlaw as he grapples with a grave injury and seeks care from a mysterious woman, all while reflecting on a lifetime defined by violence and theft. The ensemble cast also features Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, and Noah Jupe, among others.
