Managing the Subnautica 2 Alien Ruins Angel Comb requires a different approach than the specimens you have encountered elsewhere. This mature structure is currently being compromised by three juvenile combs hidden throughout the region, which are actively feeding viral infections into the host. You may have stumbled upon a few during your exploration, but the third remains elusive. Furthermore, you cannot resolve this issue immediately upon arrival; you will need to acquire specific equipment and a crucial upgrade to neutralize the juveniles and restore the mature comb.
Below, we provide a step-by-step guide on how to purge the Alien Ruins Angel Comb in Subnautica 2.
[Note: Before beginning, open your character menu and enable all landmark signals to ensure the locations listed below are clearly marked on your HUD.]How to clear the Alien Ruins Angel Comb in Subnautica 2
The first juvenile comb is situated in the caves 100 meters west of the Alien Ruins at a depth of approximately 167 meters. Because this is a juvenile, it offers no mutations upon completion. Upon approach, you will notice the canker blooms retract; the standard sonic resonator is ineffective here. You must first upgrade your equipment to the feedback resonator.
With the feedback resonator equipped, target the canker blooms with a charged blast. Maintain your distance to prevent them from closing prematurely. Once every bloom in the chamber is destroyed, the juvenile comb will be cleared.
Two juvenile combs remain. The second is located roughly 390 meters southeast of the main Angel Comb (or 320 meters southeast of the Alien Ruins), near the domed Power Plant structures connected by external piping. If navigation becomes difficult, simply track the oversized purple roots. You will need your tadpole’s depth module, as this site sits at 300 meters. Eliminate the canker blooms here using the same method as before.
The final juvenile is 450 meters east of the Angel Comb, hidden within a section of the Cicada’s wreckage perched atop a cliff. You will find the northeast entrance obstructed by canker blooms; clear these with the feedback resonator. Inside, descend through the fractured floor into the vertical cavern. The feedback resonator’s range allows you to dispatch the blooms and the parasites guarding them without drawing aggression. Keep an eye out for oxygen tunics, which will replenish your air supply and allow you to take your time.
Once all juvenile threats are eradicated, return to the mature Angel Comb. Three new canker blooms will have emerged around it; destroy these to complete the purification. This rewards you with a valuable mutation, granting you the ability to perceive and interface with Axum technology.
Known Issue: Currently, some players may encounter a bug where the mature Angel Comb fails to register the interaction after opening. There is no player-side workaround for this glitch; you will need to wait for a developer patch to proceed with acquiring the mutation.
