Horror film “Lights Out” to get a sequel

Nearly a decade after its debut, New Line Cinema is officially moving forward with a sequel to David F. Sandberg’s breakout horror hit, Lights Out. Connor Osborne McIntyre has been tapped to pen the screenplay, while the original creative trio—producer Lawrence Gray, director David F. Sandberg, and writer Eric Heisserer—will return to oversee the project as executive producers.

James Wan’s Atomic Monster has also joined the production, bringing additional genre expertise to the long-awaited follow-up.

Development on a Lights Out sequel has fluctuated between progress and limbo for several years. However, there is renewed optimism that this powerhouse production team will successfully navigate the project through to completion this time around.

The 2016 original centered on a malevolent entity that manifested only in the darkness, capable of striking its victims the moment the lights were extinguished.
