Harry Potter Season 2 Casts Arthur Weasley and Moaning Myrtle

HBO has unveiled the latest additions to the cast for the second season of the Harry Potter series, which will adapt the events of The Chamber of Secrets.

Rafe Spall (The Ritual) has been tapped to portray Arthur Weasley, the patriarch of the Weasley family. The spectral Moaning Myrtle, who haunts the Hogwarts bathrooms, will be brought to life by Molly Hewitt-Richards (Code of Silence). Additionally, Jasper Ambrose (Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy) is set to play the enthusiastic first-year photographer Colin Creevey.

In the original Warner Bros. film adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s novels, the roles of Mr. Weasley, Myrtle, and Creevey were famously held by Mark Williams, Shirley Henderson, and Hugh Mitchell, respectively. These new actors join a growing ensemble for the series, which already includes Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts; Lenny Rush as Dobby the House-elf; and Peter Serafinowicz as Peeves the Poltergeist.

Production on The Chamber of Secrets is scheduled to commence this autumn. Meanwhile, the inaugural season, The Sorcerer’s Stone, is slated to premiere on HBO on December 25th.
