Crunchyroll Adds English Dub for Haikyu!!; Franchise Nears Animated Finale
Crunchyroll has added the English dub of Haikyu!!’s first two seasons to its streaming library, making a once-hard-to-find version far more accessible. The move resolves much of the earlier fragmentation that left English-speaking viewers hunting for dubbed episodes across multiple services.
At this time, the later seasons of Haikyu!! remain available in Japanese with English subtitles. Past licensing complexities kept the dub scattered and, for many fans, difficult to locate; Crunchyroll’s acquisition eases that problem for viewers who prefer English voice work.
Earlier this year the platform drew criticism after several titles — including Claymore — were removed unexpectedly. Those removals were largely the result of broader licensing agreements and catalog-wide expirations rather than issues specific to English dubs. Read more about the removals.
Created by Haruichi Furudate and adapted from a manga that ran from 2012 to 2020, Haikyu!! first premiered in 2014. The series follows Shōyō Hinata, a compact but fiercely determined high schooler who dreams of reaching the top in volleyball. Alongside his rival-turned-teammate Tobio Kageyama and the Karasuno High team, Hinata pushes toward the national tournament, overcoming size, skill gaps, and fierce opponents.
The franchise is approaching its animated conclusion through two feature films. The first, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, arrived in 2024 and picked up the story after the anime’s fifth season. The finale, Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant, is slated to wrap up the series but does not yet have a release date. Read our review of The Dumpster Battle.
Director Susumu Mitsunaka, who led The Dumpster Battle, returns for Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant, which adapts the dramatic Nationals clash between Karasuno and Kamomedai High. A new TV special, Haikyu!! Bakemonotachi no Iku Tokoro, will dramatize the Nationals match between Fukurodani and Mujinazaka High and serve as a narrative bridge to the films.
Where to watch: Haikyu!! is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
