GTA 6 Launch Trailer Gets TV Spots

Alternative versions of the GTA 6 Launch Trailer have started airing on American TV. In the spring, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the game’s advertising would appear on television, though on a much smaller scale than in previous years.

Premiere

The first airing took place on October 21, about a month before release, on NBC Sports. It aired during a break in the NBA game between the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers (100:106).

So far, viewers have spotted two versions of the commercial during live broadcasts.

60-Second Version

This version cuts two sections. One is the opening sequence at the shipyard, which covers the first 15 seconds. The other runs from 37 to 52 seconds and includes nine scenes, from Raul Bautista dancing to Lucia’s electronic ankle monitor in the shower.

The end card also changed. It no longer lists Xbox Series X/S as a platform for Grand Theft Auto VI and shows only PS5. The second version makes the same change.

90-Second Version

The 90-second version also differs from the original footage. Two shower scenes were cut, one featuring a kiss and another showing Lucia’s electronic ankle monitor. In their place, the shot of the protagonist jumping onto a plane and the shot of the duo fooling around near a car were extended by a few milliseconds.
