«God of War» to recast lead actor

Ryan Hurst has officially departed the *God of War* television series, an adaptation of the acclaimed video game franchise. The actor suffered a severe injury while filming the project late last June.

Hurst sustained a torn bicep tendon during a high-stakes action sequence. Information regarding his successor for the lead role of Kratos has yet to be disclosed. Amazon, which is overseeing the production, has postponed filming until this autumn; an official release date remains unconfirmed.

The narrative of *God of War* is anchored in the realm of Norse mythology. The protagonist, Kratos, embarks on a perilous journey alongside his son, Atreus, to scatter his late wife’s ashes, facing a gauntlet of formidable trials along the way.

The ensemble cast features Callum Vinson, Teresa Palmer, Mandy Patinkin, Ed Skrein, and others. The series is spearheaded by showrunner Ronald D. Moore (best known for *Outlander*). Hurst also recently made a guest appearance in Nolan’s *Odyssey*.
